The Past, The Present And The Future
In 1975, Robert G. Graf founded American Mine Research, Inc. (AMR) to support the mining industry’s need for enhanced safety through the use of continuity-type ground monitors. Today, AMR has over 40,000 ground monitor circuits in use worldwide. In addition to high and low voltage ground monitors, AMR now offers a complete product line of monitoring and control electronics designed to enhance the safety and productivity of the surface and underground mining, aggregates and general industries. AMR’s product lines have expanded to include atmospheric monitoring sensors and systems, wireless tracking & communication systems, vacuum circuit breaker systems, and speed and level sensors. Headquartered in Rocky Gap, VA, AMR shares a 40,000 sq. ft. modern facility with its sister company, East River Metals.
Mr. Graf founded East River Metals, Inc. (ERM) in 1979 to provide high quality metal enclosures to AMR at a time when quick turnarounds were needed during product development. Using computer-controlled machinery with state of the art processing and quality control, ERM specializes in small to medium volume fabrication, assembly, and finishing of sheet metal products, yielding close tolerances and high cosmetic finishes. ERM has since diversified its customer base, and now AMR makes up less than 5% of its total sales volume. ERM utilizes 30,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing and warehouse space at the facility in Rocky Gap, Virginia.
Capitalizing on the success and the years of experience at both AMR and ERM, Custom Manufacturing Services, Inc. (CMS) was founded in 1995 in Princeton, West Virginia. CMS provides a wide range of turnkey manufacturing services including: through-hole assembly of circuit boards, cable and harness assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, sheet metal fabrication, and finishing. CMS is comprised of two facilities encompassing over 115,000 sq ft. CMS 1 on Brick St. houses the fully automated wash and paint line, metal fabrication for painted products and electro-mechanical assembly production. CMS 2 on Rogers St. specializes in medium to high volume sheet metal fabrication including the design, prototyping, quick turns, and high cosmetic fabrication of aluminum, steel and stainless steel.
